Students with Post-Secondary Qualifications & Non-SPP Applicants
Columbia College does not admit students under SPP who already have a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree, or have 10+2 or Polytechnic completion earlier than 2012. Also, in keeping with CIC’s policy of discouraging non-SPP applications to SPP institutions, Columbia College can accept applications only from students who qualify to apply for their Study Permit under SPP. We cannot admit students who have already been refused a Canadian Study Permit.
Note: Columbia College fees/per credit will be rising slightly from September 2015
Columbia College Application Deadline
For applications made or completed after November 14, Columbia College will consider the student for the start date the following semester, Summer 2015 (starting in May 2015).
Students applying for Winter 2015 and meeting the above deadline should please pay fees as soon as possible. We will send out a receipt and reissue Winter 2015 letters of acceptance, updating with fees paid, until November 28. After November 28, we will not re-issue Winter Semester letters of acceptance but will send a receipt only. This is to ensure that Columbia College will not be issuing letters of acceptance dated after the High Commission’s recommended deadline for applications.
Two semesters’ fees due to register
Please remind your students that new international applicants to Columbia College are expected to make a two-semester tuition deposit of $11,760 (equivalent to 24 credits of UT coursework at $490/credit) plus the $200 document assessment fee. The total fee of $11,960 is due no later than the student’s first registration. If students have not paid the entire amount at first registration, commission (based on the two-semester amount students pay at first registration) will be delayed. It would very much help us if you would remind qualified applicants that they will receive a two-year acceptance and in return are expected to make a commitment of studying two semesters (eight months, or one F/T year) at Columbia College. Please also encourage applicants to read the student information letter, which explains this policy and gives other important information.
IMP Note: Columbia College tuition fees will be rising, effective September 1, 2015. For students registering September 2015 and later, tuition fees will rise from the current $490 to $500/credit. The two-semester tuition deposit for new international students at Columbia College (based on 24 credits of course work) will correspondingly rise from $11,760 to $12,000.
Homestay fees will also be rising after a number of years at the current rate. One month’s homestay rent will rise to $800/month for all students in homestay, except those requesting custodianship. For students under 19 requesting custodianship with homestay, the monthly homestay fee will rise to $850/month. Effective Sept. 2015, the homestay deposit will therefore be:
Adults & minors (under 19) not requesting college custodianship:
- With airport pick-up $1,920
- Without airport pick-up $1,850
Minors (under 19) requesting college custodianship:
- With airport pick-up $2,300
- Without airport pick-up $2,230
Full details are on the attached pdf file.
Columbia College Updates:
The main changes (effective September 2016) are as follows:
