AIS St Helens, Auckland’s largest and most international independent degree granting private institution, has been approved and accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority to offer the Bachelor of Hospitality Management qualification.
The Bachelor of Hospitality Management is designed for students seeking employment in professional roles in the hospitality industry leading to future leadership positions. Graduates of this programme are able to integrate relevant theory, analytical tools and applied skills to implement best practice across a broad range of hospitality management functions.
Completed over three years of full-time study, the programme comprises the Diploma in Hospitality Operations (Year 1 Level 5), the Diploma in Hospitality Operations Management (Year 2 Level 6) and the final year of the degree (Level 7). There is provision for students to exit the programme with a Level 5 or Level 6 diploma if their circumstances change and they are unable to do the full three years. Potential students who are working in the industry and have permanent residence or a work visa may be able to study part-time with the agreement of their employer. There is also provision for students who have completed Level 5 or Level 6 diplomas at other institutions to be admitted to the programme with advanced standing (i.e. cross-credits) in recognition of previous study.
The final year of this degree programme entails successful completion of an Applied Hospitality Management Project, an integrated course in Hospitality Management, plus electives such as Resorts and Hospitality Management, Hospitality Industry Practice and International Food and Beverage Management.
