Durham University Application Instructions

Durham University Courses

Durham does not offer any January or February intake programmes. Entry to PhD programmes is possible with a September/January/April intake, but this is dependent on suitable supervision being available.

Undergraduate Courses

Durham University’s School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Health has been able to create a small number of additional places for suitably qualified international students for its Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree program

Based at the Queen’s Campus, a contemporary, purpose built campus in a lively riverside location, Durham’s MPharm is the newest and most cutting-edge program of its kind in the UK. The program is delivered using a problem-orientated, and case-led approach, and encompasses a variety of different placement opportunities, which are totally integrated with the program. From the start of the MPharm, students will be sent on placements that are designed to introduce them to the wider healthcare team so they become familiar with the communities of practice in which they will eventually work as a pharmacist.

The MPharm program develops graduates who:

  • demonstrate applied knowledge of pharmaceutical science integrated with a range of skills and competencies appropriate to the practice of pharmacy in all sectors of the profession;
  • demonstrate detailed knowledge of the National Health Service (NHS) and the role of pharmacists within the wider healthcare team;
  • are capable of communicating with patients and professional colleagues to facilitate their role across the entire breadth of professional practice; and
  • are research driven, demonstrating an enquiring attitude and a range of research skills suitable to develop the evidence–base of the profession.

Entry qualifications for the MPharm program are:

  • AAB at UK A-level (or equivalent) to include Chemistry and Biology
  • IELTS at 7, no element below 7.
