Edge Hill University have attached the copies of the application forms, which can also be downloaded at http://www.edgehill.ac.uk/international/apply/

It is also important that every section on the application form is complete, including the personal statement. Edge Hill University have asked questions in the personal statement section and it is very important, students should take the time to answer them. It is also important that students complete their contact details fully on the front of the application form. Students MUST fill in the form clearly so that it can be processed – Edge Hill University had so many problems and delays because the University are unable to read the handwriting, or because email addresses are missing.

English Language Requirements

Undergraduate/Bachelor Degree Programmes

For undergraduate/bachelor degree programmes, students with a qualification equivalent to a British school-leaving qualification (for example, A Levels) can be considered for direct entry on to the first year of a three or four-year course. If the student is from a country where qualifications are not at this level then they may be required to undertake International Foundation Programme.

Students are required to present a Secure English Language Test (or have their English language ability assessed by Edge Hill) to be granted a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK. The minimum requirements for undergraduate/bachelor study at Edge Hill are:

  • IELTS: 6.0 overall with no individual element less than 5.5
  • TOEFL: 76 overall with no individual element less than 17. Please note that TOEFL test must have been taken on or before 17th April 2014 to be considered by the University for admissions purposes
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): 54 overall with no individual element less than 51

Pre-Masters Programmes

For students who do not possess the equivalent of a UK honours degree, satisfactory completion of one year Pre-Masters Programme provides a guaranteed entry route onto a range of our one-year full-time postgraduate courses.

Students are required to present a Secure English Language Test (or have their English language ability assessed by Edge Hill) to be granted a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK. The minimum requirements for Pre-Masters study at Edge Hill are:

  • IELTS: 5.5 overall with no individual element less than 5.5
  • TOEFL: 72 overall with no individual element less than 17. Please note that TOEFL test must have been taken on or before 17th April 2014 to be considered by the University for admissions purposes
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): 51 overall with no individual element less than 51

Postgraduate Taught Programmes

To gain entry on to a postgraduate certificate, diploma or masters course, students need an undergraduate/bachelors degree, normally with the equivalent of first or second-class honours in a relevant subject of equivalent standard to a UK undergraduate/bachelor degree.

Students are required to present a Secure English Language Test (or have their English language ability assessed by Edge Hill) to be granted a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK. The minimum requirements for postgraduate study at Edge Hill are:

  • IELTS: 6.5 overall with no individual element less than 5.5
  • TOEFL: 85 overall with no individual element less than 17. Please note that TOEFL test must have been taken on or before 17th April 2014 to be considered by the University for admissions purposes.
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): 59 overall with no individual element less than 51

Postgraduate Research Programmes

To apply for postgraduate research (PhD, MPhil or MRes), students are expected to have an upper second-class honours undergraduate/bachelor degree or equivalent and, in some cases, to have completed a Masters course. Students must submit a research proposal and are advised to contact the relevant Faculty in advance to discuss their ideas in more detail before submitting an application.

Students are required to present a Secure English Language Test (or have their English language ability assessed by Edge Hill) to be granted a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK. The minimum requirements for PhD, MPhil or MRes study at Edge Hill are:

  • IELTS: 7.0 overall with no individual element less than 6.0
  • TOEFL: 95 overall with no individual element less than 22. Please note that TOEFL test must have been taken on or before 17th April 2014 to be considered by the University for admissions purposes
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Acadmeic): 67 overall with no individual element less than 59
