Welcoming city centre campus

Based on a state-of-the-art campus in the heart of the busy and friendly city of Glasgow, the university offers an excellent learning environment to over 17,000 students from over 100 countries. At the centre of the campus, you’ll find the Saltire Centre, an award-winning library that provides spaces for social learning as well as quiet study. Academic excellence

The University’s founding colleges date back to 1875, with Glasgow Caledonian University formally established in 1993. Since then GCU have become renowned for providing programmes with a strong vocational focus and producing graduates who are able to excel in their chosen professions, both locally and internationally.

Harnessing the latest technologies and industry expertise, Glasgow Caledonian University focuses on the employability of its graduates. Excellence in research

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) have a long tradition of excellence in applied research that delivers practical benefits to society. GCU research in rehabilitation sciences was rated top in the UK in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise, while were placed in the top 10 for allied health research. The university’s Caledonian Environment Centre is one of the most distinguished environmental organisations in Scotland, undertaking ground breaking research that has benefitted public and private sector clients.


Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) offer a wide range of scholarships, including up to £2000 for international students. This consists of a £1000 scholarship which is available to all self-funded overseas students and a further £1000 merit-based scholarship.25% scholarships are available for self-funded MBA students who meet the full admissions criteria.

In 2010, Glasgow Caledonian University became the first Scottish university to establish a postgraduate centre in London. A graduate university campus, GCU London offers a portfolio of specialised professionally accredited postgraduate Masters and MBA s focusing on banking and finance, risk management, international fashion marketing, tourism and construction management. These programmes are supported by business partners including leading retailers AllSaints, Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser and Santander. Situated in Spitalfields, one of London’s most attractive central locations, GCU London is in close proximity to the capital’s globally recognised financial and fashion industries. Three Academic Schools

Glasgow School for Business and Society

  • GSBS offers a range of taught programmes, in distinct disciplines such as business, management, law and social sciences, as well as in niche areas including banking, economics, investment and risk, digital marketing, fashion marketing, creative and cultural business, TV fiction writing, tourism, multimedia journalism, events and sports management.
  • GCU programmes are accredited by professional bodies including the Chartered Insurance Institute; the Institute of Risk Management; the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment; the Chartered Institute of Marketing; the Chartered Institute of Management; the Chartered Institute for Logistics and Transport; and The National Council for the Training of Journalists.
  • The School’s cutting-edge facilities include a Fashion Factory, Media and Communication labs, The Law Clinic, and a Learning Development Centre, which supports the development of students’ academic skills.
  • GCU is one of just 29 universities in the world and the first in Scotland to be designated a Changemaker Campus by Ashoka U, a global network of universities and colleges, reflecting GCU’s global leadership in promoting social innovation in its teaching and research.
  • With the GCU Yunus Centre – a leading international centre for research in social business – GSBS offers a unique MSc in Social Business and Microfinance, providing the knowledge and skills to implement positive social change worldwide.

The School of Engineering and Built Environment brings together the departments of:Construction and Surveying; Mechanical, Electrical and Environmental Engineering; and Computer Communications and Interactive Systems. GCU develop the programmes in line with professional bodies’ accreditation standards including IET, BCS, RICS, CIOB, CISCO.

The School of Health and Life Sciences has 300 academic staff in its three departments: Health and Community Sciences; Allied Health Sciences; and Life Sciences. The School is Scotland‘s only WHO Collaboration Centre. GCU have strong links and partnerships with national and international organisations including NHS, NICE and the Well come Trust.

The key subject areas include Biomolecular and Biomedical Science, Human Biosciences, Optometry, Radiotherapy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Psychology, Food Bioscience, Pharmacology, Vision Research, Forensic Investigation, Diabetes Care and Management, Biotechnology with Business and Microbiology.
