Entry Requirements:

Undergraduate programmes – International English Language Tests (UKBA Secure English Language Tests – SELTs)

(i)    Tests for entry to UG programmes

(ii)    Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) with exceptions

(iii)    Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) and Health and Life Sciences (excluding clinical medicine and dentistry unless specified)

(iv)    Geography (L700, F800), Planning (K400, K430, K4L7) and Carmel College

IELTS
  • 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component
  • Geography BA/BSc require 6.5 overall with minimum 5.5 in each component.
  • 6.5 with minimum 5.5 in each component
  • Biological Sciences 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component
  • Clinical programmes in Medicine and Dentistry 7.0 with minimum 7.0 in each component
  • Master of Public Health (MPH) require 7.5 with a minimum 7.0 in each component

All applicants applying with a Country-Specific English Language Test will be required to achieve CEFR2 level in an internal test of their English Language, speaking and listening skills.

Tests for entry to UG programmes

Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE)

Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) and Health and Life Sciences (excluding clinical programmes in medicine and dentistry)

INDIA Standard XII (awarded by CBSE, CISCE, West Bengal, Karnataka, Maharashtra & Tamil Nadu boards) 70% or above (from these boards when education has been completed in English Medium) 70% or above (from these boards when education has been completed in English Medium)

Postgraduate programmes – International English Language Tests

(i)    Tests for entry to PG programmes

(ii)    Faculty of Science and Engineering

(iii)    Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences and Health and Life Sciences

IELTS 6.5 with minimum 5.5 in each component for most programmesThe following programmes require 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component:

  • MSc Aerospace & Mechanical Systems Engineering
  • MSc Adv Eng. Materials
  • MSc Adv. Manufacturing Systems and Tech
  • MSc Energy Generation
  • MSc Engineering Applications of Lasers

7.0 Clinical programmes in Medicine and Dentistry (with no less than 7.0 in any component)

  • All PGT programmes unless otherwise specified below: 6.5 with minimum 5.5 in each component
  • All Programmes within Management, Law, Architecture, Histories and School of Languages and Cultures require: 6.5 with minimum 6.0 in each component
  • Politics, Communication and Media: 6.5 with minimum 6.5 in speaking and writing and min 5.5 in other components
  • MA TESOL / MA Applied Linguistics: 7.0 with minimum 6.5 in each component
  • PGR programmes: 6.5 with minimum 5.5 in each component
