Southern New Hampshire University Application Instruction & Requirements

The application process for admission is as follows:

  1. Apply for admission online. Applicants should select the “International Student (Manchester Campus) Application Fee” option. Note that no applications will be processed until the application fee has been received.
  2. After paying application fee of 40$, students will receive an automated email with instructions on how to submit the required documentation listed below:
    1. Originals or attested copies of degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Include an official record of courses and grades or marks received.
    2. Evidence of English proficiency, typically by means of an international test TOEFL or IELTS score (see requirements below). Students without international test TOEFL or IELTS scores may be admitted conditional upon being tested on arrival
    3. Documentation demonstrating student’s ability to pay the financial obligations of studying in the United States, such as a bank letter indicating the actual financial condition of students sponsor.
    4. New Tuition Fees for the academic year 2015-16 (starting September) has been set
      1. Undergraduate tuition fees will be $15,0003 per semester, or $30,006 for a full academic year.
      2. Graduate tuition fee will be $1,881 per course.
    5. A color copy of current passport

Specific Details on Evaluations

Bachelor’s Degrees

Applications will be considered for the subsequent term start when the application has been completed, the application fee paid and all associated documentation has been received. Undergraduate applications will be considered for admission to the upcoming term start on a rolling basis. Eligibility for admission is based upon the following:

  • Applicants need to have completed the equivalent of a US Secondary School
  • Applicants will require the equivalent of a 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale for admission consideration

Please note that Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) has increased requirements for PTE scores, so English requirements are now as follows:

Undergraduate

  • TOEFL 71
  • IELTS 6.5
  • PTE 54
  • ELS 112
  • EF C1
  • ILSC A1
  • Michigan 85
  • ASC English Completion
  • The TOEIC examination is not accepted.

 

Now Accepting 6.0 IELTS (with no Sub-Score below 6.0) for Undergraduate Programs  

For undergraduate students using the IELTS test score, the placement is based on their overall score in conjunction with their subs cores as follows:

Undergraduate applicants with an average IELTS score of 6.0 and any sub score below 6.0 will be placed into the undergraduate English bridge program. Applicants with an average IELTS score of 6.0 and no sub scores below 6.0 are considered direct to program (with English placement into English 099i).

Master’s Degrees

Applications will be considered for the subsequent term start when the application has been completed, the application fee paid and all associated documentation has been received. Typically, graduate applications will be considered for the upcoming term if completed at least 8 weeks before the term start.

  • Applicants should have the equivalent of a US bachelor’s degree
  • Applicants will require the equivalent of 2.75 on a 4.0 grading scale for admission consideration.
  • Applicants who have some master’s level academic work may be eligible for transfer credits or exemptions.
  • Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency as evidenced by:

Graduate

  • TOEFL 79
  • IELTS 6.5
  • PTE 58
  • ELS 112
  • EF C2-1
  • ILSC A2
  • Michigan 90
  • ASC English Completion (+GLS)
  • The TOIEC examination is not accepted

Student with scores between TOEFL 71-78, IELTS 6.0, PTE 54-57 will start in the GLS bridge program for one full term.

Students with scores of less than TOEFL 71, IELTS 6.0, PTE 54 can apply for SNHU English as a Second Language (ESL) program. The ESL program is not open to graduate students of Indian citizenship.

Students who have IB diplomas or non-technical degrees from countries where English is the one and only official language can request a waiver, but may still be required at minimum to take a research writing module.

Academic records

Students need to pass 1st or 2nd division, and for 3 year degrees they also need to be from “A Ranked Institution (NAAC)” to be classified as equivalent to 4 year degrees.

Backlogs

Southern New Hampshire University will not accept more than 8 backlogs. There may occasionally be an exception made for a student with 9 backlogs combined with extremely high scores, but normally more than 8 backlogs means automatic denial.

    hello,
    I got admit in snhu for sept. term for MS in IT but my toefl score is 73 and then i wrote PTE to waive off my GLS course but i scored 56 marks only 2 marks less to qualify to waive my GLS . now what i can do to waive off my GLS instead of giving PTE again .

My query is do you need a copy of 10th and 12th leaving certificate? because my 10th original leaving certificate is with the previous college I studied in and the refused to give it back to me as they said it was by the rule of the Maharashtra state board, India.
